Terms of Service
Last updated: August 26, 2026
These terms govern your use of Word Trainer: the website at word-trainer.com and the Word Trainer Android app (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by its developer, Denys Konoplin, a sole proprietor registered in Ukraine ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Word Trainer is a personal vocabulary trainer: you build a dictionary of the words you are learning and practise them with spaced repetition, flashcards, listening, typed and voice exercises. Some features depend on third-party services (speech recognition, translation, text-to-speech, photo scanning) and carry usage limits that differ between the plans. The limits for each plan are published on the pricing page and may be adjusted over time; material changes to what a paid plan includes are announced in advance.
2. Accounts
You need an account to use the Service. You must be at least 13 years old. Keep your password private and tell us at once if you believe your account has been used without your permission. You are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings; see the deletion instructions and the privacy policy for what happens to your data.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to store or share content you have no right to;
- interfere with the Service, probe or circumvent its security or usage limits, or access it with automated tools other than a normal browser or the app;
- share your account, or resell or commercially redistribute the Service or the content it produces;
- reverse engineer or copy the Service except where the law expressly allows it.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
4. Your content
Words, translations, folders and anything else you add remain yours. You grant us the right to store and process them in order to run the Service for you. Words you add may be kept as shared canonical entries (the word and its translations, nothing about you) so other learners get the same translations. Folders you share by link become visible to anyone with the link for as long as the link is valid.
5. Free and paid plans
The Free plan is free for as long as we offer it, within its limits. Base and Pro are paid subscriptions, currently $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year for Base and $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year for Pro, in US dollars. Any sales tax or VAT that applies in your country is included in that price: you pay exactly the amount shown, and we carry the tax. Prices are shown before you pay and can change for future periods; an active subscription keeps its price until it renews after the change takes effect, and we tell you before a renewal at a new price.
6. Payment, renewal and cancellation
On the website purchases are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), which is the merchant of record: Paddle sells the subscription to you, handles payment, taxes and invoices, and its buyer terms apply to the transaction. In the Android app, once subscriptions are offered there, purchases are made through Google Play and are subject to Google Play's terms.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) until cancelled. You can cancel at any time: on the website through "Manage subscription", on Android in your Google Play subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges; Pro stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account returns to the Free plan. Nothing you created is deleted when a subscription ends: if your dictionary holds more words than the Free plan trains at once, the extra words are paused rather than removed, and you choose which ones stay active.
7. Refunds
Our refund policy explains when you can get your money back. In short: purchases made on the website have a 30-day money-back guarantee; purchases made through Google Play follow Google Play's refund process. Nothing in these terms limits the refund rights you have under the consumer law of your country.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available, but it is provided "as is" and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Third-party services we rely on can fail or change. We may add, change or remove features, and may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice; if we discontinue Pro, we refund the unused part of any prepaid period.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, its design, code and built-in content are ours or our licensors'. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service; they do not transfer any ownership to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data you have not backed up through the Service's own means, or losses caused by third-party services. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including consumer rights that apply to you.
11. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or if the law requires it; where we do so without such a reason, we refund the unused part of any prepaid Pro period.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live. Disputes that cannot be settled amicably are subject to the courts competent under those rules.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. For material changes we notify you in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
