Is Word Trainer free?
Yes — all core features are free: your dictionary, training, the Learn mode, and voice practice. Just sign up and start.
How is it different from Duolingo or Anki?
Duolingo walks you through a fixed course, and Anki needs decks to be built or downloaded. Word Trainer starts from the words YOU meet in real life: paste a whole list — like the one piling up in your notes. “Word — translation” pairs are recognized as they are, and missing translations fill in automatically. Then the app takes each word through the full cycle: first acquaintance, flashcards, typed and spoken recall with spaced repetition. And it works offline.
Which languages are supported?
Bulgarian, Croatian, English, Finnish, French, German, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian — any pair, in both directions: Turkish from Russian, Portuguese from English, Croatian from German.
How do I learn brand-new words?
Start in the Learn tab: words are shown in pairs, and as you raise the level, letters gradually hide — until you recall whole words from memory. Then come flashcards and real training. The Listen mode also plays your words with translations — handy for learning by ear.
What is hands-free mode?
The app pronounces a word, listens to your spoken answer, and moves on — no hands needed. Train while doing chores, walking, or driving.
Can I share my words with a friend?
Yes: open the folder menu and get a link — whoever opens it imports the set into their own dictionary. A link stays active for 2 days.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first sign-in, your dictionary and training work without internet. Only adding new words (auto-translation, photo recognition) and voice input need a connection.
How do I install it on my phone?
iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap Share (the square with an arrow), then “Add to Home Screen”. Android: in Chrome, open the menu (⋮) and tap “Add to Home screen” — a Google Play release is on the way. The app then launches full-screen from its own icon.
